How to get more likes on Hinge
By the bestsideofyou teamLast updated
To get more likes on Hinge, fix your first photo, give each prompt one detail someone could reply to, and make your six photos show six different things. That's most of it. Likes on Hinge usually land on a specific photo or answer, so a profile with more specific things on it gives people more reasons to send one.
1. Fix the first photo
Your first photo decides whether anyone scrolls. Make it recent, in daylight, at eye level, with just you in it and nothing over your eyes. If you change only one thing this week, change this. The first photo guide goes into detail.
2. Give every prompt something to reply to
A like with a comment is a reply. People can only reply to something specific. Compare:
Food, music and travel.
Night markets. The one in Taipei ruined every other dumpling for me. Still looking for a match in Chicago.
Game prompts are the easiest to reply to. A good “Two truths and a lie” writes the first message for them. A small, real plan in “Together, we could” makes saying yes easy.
3. Make the six photos do six jobs
Face, full length, something you do, people, a place, and one more of whatever is strongest. Six versions of the same photo make a profile feel smaller than you are.
- 1Clear face, natural lightLets people see you before anything else. Eye level, no sunglasses, no group.
- 2Full length, standingAnswers the question everyone has and nobody asks. Taken from a few metres away, not a mirror.
- 3Doing the thing you mentionedTurns a prompt claim into proof: the climbing wall, the pottery wheel, the pizza oven.
- 4Candid, mid-laughShows what you are like when you are not posing. Ask a friend to talk to you while they shoot.
- 5With friends, you obviousShows you have people. One photo is enough, and you should be easy to find in it.
- 6A place that matters to youYour local café, your allotment, your Sunday route. Gives someone a first-date idea.
4. Match your photos to your prompts
If you say you build trebuchets in “Unusual skills”, show the trebuchet. A prompt and a photo that tell the same story are easier to remember and easier to like.
5. Check your settings
Narrow age ranges, a small distance and dealbreakers you don't really mean all shrink the pool. Widen anything you'd honestly be flexible about.
6. Change one thing at a time
Swap one photo or one prompt, use the app normally for a week or two, then decide. Changing everything at once tells you nothing.
Not sure your answers are specific enough? Paste one into the prompt checker. And if you'd like a sense of tone, “Dating me is like” has eight examples to borrow the shape of.
Questions people ask
What gets the most likes on Hinge?
A clear, recent first photo and at least one prompt answer that's easy to reply to. Likes on Hinge are often a response to one specific photo or answer, so give people something specific to respond to.
Does being active help?
Hinge hasn't published exactly how it orders profiles, so we can't promise anything about activity. Using the app normally, rather than once a month, is a sensible habit either way.
Should I pay for Hinge+ or HingeX to get more likes?
Paid features change what you can do and see. They don't change what people think of your profile. Fix photos and prompts first.
How fast should I expect a change?
Give one change a week or two of normal use before judging it, and change one thing at a time so you know what helped.
